IELTS Listening Test lasts for 40 minutes ( 30 minutes for listening and answering and 10 minutes for transferring your answers to answer sheet. The purpose of IELTS Listening Test is to assess your listening skill as how well you understand the information and ideas, recognize the opinions of speaker. Listening Test is same for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.
Test Format
In the listening test, there are total 40 questions divided into four sections. Each section has 10 questions.
Section 1
There are two speakers. You will hear a conversation between two people on a situation, e.g. organising a place, booking a table or hotel, renting an apartment etc.
Section 2
There is one speaker. You will hear a talk from a guide, e.g. an information about a building, resort, company or charity etc.
Section 3
There may be 3-4 speakers. You will hear an academic discussion. It could either be two students talking with a professor or a student presenting their assignment to their colleagues or a group of students planning a research project.
Section 4
There is one speaker and you will hear an academic lecture.
Types of questions
You will be asked to answer different types of the questions in the Listening Test.
